The International Harvester Company built just 176 of their 30-60 Titan Tractors. They have a two cylinder, horizontal side by side engine that could run on cheaper kerosene. They were throttle governed and rated at 30 horsepower on drawbar and 60 horsepower on the belt.
Only 3 remaining examples of these tractors are still known to exist. One belonged to Oscar Cook that sold at his auction in 1998, the other is in a private collection, and the third belonged to Clarence Young in Great Falls, Montana.
These are a series of photos of my father with Clarence. He had just purchased the tractor and they needed to move it away from the shed and out into the pasture, so it could be loaded easily with a drop deck semi-trailer.
This was in the summer of 1999.
The story I know is that Clarence purchased the tractor from somewhere in White Sulfur Springs, Montana. I’m not sure of what year that was and don’t know any history on the tractor.
We’re finishing up restoring this tractor, so I want to start posting about the project. I though this might be a good place to start.
Big thank you to my mother who took all these photographs!
